MonkeyBot Part 2- 4/2/26

To better help onboard new members, we have improved our guides for MonkeyBot to ensure members can go through MonkeyBot with less direct assistance.

Terminal Guide:

Many new members had little terminal experience, so we added a small wiki of common terminal commands like cat, ls, cd, and clear

Highlights:

Many key steps and details were often not highlighted clearly, so we used tools such as text color and bolding to ensure nobody misses key details. Because we lacked highlights, one of our new members bricked his new laptop by somehow deleting his boot folder.

Debugging Guide:

Previously, we did not mention the most common errors and what to do, so we added more detailed explanations of errors to ensure greater independence for onboarding members.

Explanations:

Previously, our focus was to have onboarding members try to figure out the solution themselves in order to learn, but everyone had difficulty finding solutions, so we instead opted to let new members know the solution, but instead figure out WHY it works, as our goal with MonkeyBot is to ensure new members understand how stuff works.

High Level Low Level Guide:

One major knowledge gap we noticed new members had was the difference between a High Level and Low Level Controller. While this was a part of MonkeyBot, we never explained what it was or really mentioned the existence of a High and Low Level Controller. So this addition ensures that onboarding members can better understand how Monkeybot and AUVs, for that matter, transfer information.
